PERU for me

Let me start by saying, Peru is NOT the way my mother portrayed it to be. Mum almost convinced me I was going to get robbed, kidnapped and shot, all in the one day. I have been here over two weeks and so far, there has not been a moment i have feared for my life. Here a few of my favourite mum quotes in regard to my trip (mostly in reference to my hair): "I hope you're going to wear a toupee in south america", "You can't wear that (in reference to my red mohair cardigan) or you will get killed", "You won't be able to speak the language so they won't understand you are normal" and.. "People are going to think you're in a gang". She also begged me to wear a wig. Gotta love mums advice/wisdom.
So to update you. My journey began in Lima where i hung out with Isabella Moores sweet friends. They cooked for me, showed me around and made me feel extremely welcome. The day after i arrived, I met up with my partner in crime - Joey Phi. She is so great. We have the same hair cuts, are both vegetarian plus she doesn´t drink or smoke either! We totally come from the same planet of weirdness. We lapped up the markets in Lima where I got my first taste of what techni coloured ravey tourist items to buy were to come! What I can`t understand, is why more native Peruivans don`t sport their bright colours! Sure, the traditional ladies in the smaller villages look beyond fabulous, but in the bigger cities, everyone is so conservative and choose to dress dull. This fact makes Joey and I`s appearance even more funny than usual. In London, no one looks twice at me, but here..... wow. They make us feel so `special`and very alien. So, when the native people ask us where we are from (which happens every three steps), we tell them we are from out of space. Works a treat. They just laugh... but we can tell they don`t know what to believe! When we were in Arequipa, there was a relgious ceremony/parade on the street and when we walked past, everything pretty much stopped and even the tourists stopped to take photos of us. It can be pretty creepy at times and not nice on the odd occasion when we are `not in the mood.` After Lima, we headed straight for the Ica desert. We stayed in a hostel at an Oasis in the Huacachina desert. While we were there, we went sand boarding with an extremely sleazy driver who pretty much told us he likes to have sex A LOT and did we want to go dancing one on one later. (I have no idea where he meant cause the village is made up of about six establishments - his house?! - i don`t think so pappi) The next day, we tripped to the Paracas desert where the desert meets the beach. The villages reeked of smelly fish and the landscapes were pretty. That night, we caught the long winded night bus and spent the following few days in Aqueripa exploring the city and buying silly amounts of yummy tourist nic nacks. Luckily, Joey has some sweet Spanish speaking skills so she is THE BEST at heckling/bargaining. Thank the gods for her cause otherwise, I would get RIPPED, every time! Another thing Peru is good for, is the overload of scrunchies (one of the finer things i enjoy in life). I thought I was getting a fair dinkum price in Brisbane at 3 bucks a pop, but I was so wrong... Here, I pay 30 cents per scrunchie! See below, my collection so far... Also, can I just say how delicious the avocados are here?! Wow... I have been woofing minimum one per day. (Better start thinking of heavier dance moves for when I get back). From Aqueripa, we headed to the Colca Canyon (the second largest canyon in the world) where we did some fully sick `peruvian drag` photo shoots and gazed at the beauty of our desolate surroundings. Now we are in Puno and Joey is sick, which totally sucks but a native medicine man just gave her some plants to drink so hopefully she is ok tomorrow when we hit the Uros island on Lake Titicaca. So thats it for now... Hope you liked the long reading! I will write again after my journey here and to Cusco where Angus Gruzman is potentially meeting us to head to the jungle. All in all, I HIGHLY reccomend getting your ass to Peru. It is WINNING!

Back in London - Gypsy Boy

Upon my return, I was sucked back into the vortex of life in London. The weekend I arrived, the journey began... We spent all last weekend shooting a video for the song- Gypsy Boy for the amazog twins - Sophie and Polly Duniam - who make up My Bad Sister. The girls were smoking all weekend and it really was carny colour freak heaven. As Adrienne from The Wau Wau Sisters commented on one of the photos: “everything about this gives us hope for the world!“ . And she is so right. We are just doing our thing thinking of the children. I see a bright techni coloured future for My Bad Sister. They really are the bomb. You can catch them dancing/singing on the summer Pet Shop Boys/Take That tour and I hear they will be doing their own thing at the after parties too. These girls are on a roll. This year is going to lead them to even bigger and better things, I can feel it. Meanwhile I’m happy to be back. London is my home. I love that I can walk down the street and no one looks twice at me even when I’m in my ridiculous floral pink ski suit onesie, face paint and crimped orange side pony tailed hair. Ah sigh of relief, there are no cocky foul mouthed bogans here to heckle me. So one more week here, then I am off to Peru. I will keep you in that mystical loop when it happens, but for now, enjoy some sweet viewing of rainbow goodness from the Gyspy Boy shoot.

Posh is taking over

If you haven’t heard of Posh! The Prince... Your life is missing something. I had the pleasure of finally meeting his ocean loving ass on his latest trip to Oz. I know those of you in sydney would have ALL seen his sweet cheeks whizzing about on his fluro wonder bike around Bondi at some point over the past three months. What I love about Posh, (apart from everything) is his ability to make people think, to make people feel, and to make people want. Posh blends gender in a way I haven't seen before. He is a beautiful being, not only on the outside. I love how he confuses the shit out of so many straight boys. They really don’t know WHAT to think/feel! The looks we would attract together walking down the street were PRICELESS. I can only hope these bizarre faces we made people pull were a new and exciting thing to them and their facial muscles. Watch out for Posh!... he is gonna be beyond BIG, real soon. In your face, from now and forever.

Powerful ladies

I just thought I should make you aware that these ladies exist in this far out world. These are the most powerful women I know... (you know, girls actually doing shit themselves ON THE MIC with a force like none other) - Actually Huizenga, the Trippple Nippple girls, Feral, My Bad Sister and Ylva Falk.
All these ladies live in different cities but see with the same eye. LA, Tokyo, London and Paris. These felines have magical powers. They are an inspiration to us all and are constantly giving so much energy to all bodies in sight... Its a beautiful thing. If you EVER have the pleasure to see what they do live in the flesh... fucking do it. Follow their tasty arses cause they KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!! It makes me warm on the inside to know they exist and I have the access to combine our magical powers. With our womanly forces combined....... THE WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE!!!

Check these babes out one by one!

Shooting Pow Pow

In the last few days, I've done some pretty exciting stuff.. I've had root canal, played one of my favourite parties yet (Hot Rod), had an ingrown toenail fixed up and done TWO super radical photo shoots. Its not long till I pack my bags full of ridiculous outfits and leave Sydney for the rest of the year. Japan, Peru, London, America, India awaits... But what I would like to show, is some photos from the marvelous shoots I did this week. One was with Milos Mali. We have been waiting a whole year to work together, and we finally had our chance. The second shoot was with a good friend Mark Sherborne, we shot in the heat of the night. Both shoots were a lot of fun and I was super pleased with the prints... Stay tuned for my next video I'm making this week with Elvis Di Fazio and POSH! The Prince for me and Drugmoneys infamous track - LIZARD TITS!!!!!!

The fabulous Fringe

So I spent last week in Adelaide in the gardens of unearthly delights at the Fringe. Had such a weird and wonderful time. Met a bunch of performers I'd never met before and soaked up the magical atmosphere TO THE MAX! The vibe is always buzzing and everything is alive. I live for the fringe performing arts festivals. I am constantly inspired and consequently, have the highest possible energy. You really feel the love and time put in to make it happen too. The festival goes for 28 days... Although it seems like ground hog day to the performers doing the same show over and over, each day is a different show to those who come watch. All shows I caught this year managed to satisfy me and do the trick. The highlights (and must sees) being : the extra fabulous Le Gateau Chocolat, Sam Simmons, Ali Cook, Imaan, David Quirk and of course... The WAU WAU SISTERS (which were my personal fave). If you ever see any of these names on a bill ... GO SEE THEM! LET THEM DAZZLE YOU! And stay tuned at the next Adelaide Fringe where I will have my full 'Gaffys Rapping Musical' show being performed live each day too...!

Loose Ends is THE ONE!

As far as I’m concerned, Loose Ends (held at Phoenix bar) is the best and most consistent party in Sydney. Think of a land where Grace Jones rode a unicorn who vomited up a space for the alternate gay world/freaks. It brings me great pleasure to walk through the doors knowing I can wear whatever the fuck I want, do whatever the fuck I want and dance however the fuck I want to dance (even more than usual)! There is no comparison really. I love nothing more than to grind my ass up and down that dance floor to the sweet sounds Matt Vaughan and friends play. It is a pocket I am so happy I have found in the depths of Sydney’s dull denim jacket where you can enter the void and freak the fuck out. All my love goes out to the creatures who make it happen. Matt Vaughan, David Lloyd, Justin Shoulder, Dallas Dellaforce and Regrette to name a few. These creatures are my biggest inspirations in Sydney. Great music, fabulous creatures and genuine goooooood vibes. What else could you ask for?! THIS is where its at people. Fuck Saturdays... its ALL about Sunday!

Check out their february parties.... and stay tuned for march when i play!
